A bit about me.
Get to know me…
My journey as a counsellor began many years ago, in my early 20s, when my life kept intersecting with broken people in need of care and support. I wanted to be equipped to support others effectively. My early training helped me to see my own unhealthy patterns, and led me on a journey of self discovery which has continued through my life. I have also experienced the benefit of having supports in life for those times where it all feels too hard. I recognise how painful it can be to work on our hurts and unhealthy coping strategies, so this shapes the compassion that I seek to bring to my clients.
As a Christian counsellor I have the privilege of supporting you in your spiritual journey. My faith is a key part of my life, purpose, and work. However, if faith is not a part of your life, I am also very happy to walk with you, without judgement.
I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients individually, in marriage, families, and Christian community. This passion began with my own family and marriage, and I see the value of each individual having the support and self-understanding needed to live to their full potential. This area of interest continues to be a research, writing and training priority which I invest time in.
Some of the other experiences which have shaped me have been an unexpected homeschool journey, dealing with the fallout of toxic leadership situations, supporting friends through the messy process of escaping domestic violence, and seeing the value of one person’s willingness to effect positive institutional change.
On Track Counselling…
The name for my business comes from both a belief that we are all on a journey through this life, and my love for camels. Many years ago now I had the privilege of going on a camel trek through the Australian outback. What I observed is that camels are strong creatures, with various personalities, but they are also steady and dependable.
Camels have an ability to put one foot in front of another in almost meditative manner, refuelling when needed, but otherwise carrying a load with seeming ease. When I think about what growth looks like, I wanted to embrace this metaphor, recognising that we all have loads to bear, but we want to be able to carry them with greater ease, moving steadily forward to our destination.
